Today, at about 06:30, Nongoma SAPS arrested a 26-year-old suspect for murder. It is alleged that on 6 May 2015, police received a complaint of murder that occurred at Mjeni area, Nongoma.
They proceeded to the scene of crime and they find the deceased’ body who was identified as Sifundo Sibiya, 18, lying down inside the tavern and he had a stab wound on the chest.
A case of murder was opened at Nongoma police station for investigation. The suspect was arrested and the knife allegedly used for killing the deceased was seized from the suspect. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. He will be charged for murder and is appearing at Nongoma Magistrates’ Court today.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded Nongoma police for swiftly arresting the suspect. “Our dedicated and committed detectives will thoroughly investigate this case to make sure that the suspect is convicted and spend the rest of his life behind bars,” she said.
