The MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu will on Friday (5 June 2015) attend the passing out parade of 91 newly graduated traffic officers to boost law enforcement and improve road safety in the province.
The graduation of the officers marks the completion of the latest training programme that involved 90 trainee officers, who were recruited in the protracted process, which was negatively affected by the December 2012 tragedy that resulted in the loss of lives of eight prospective candidates.
The additional officer is from one of the local municipalities. Having gone through a vigorous selection process and completed training in the past year, the officers will officially graduate, before they are deployed to various stations in the province.
