Today, 14 January 2015, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (A) Meshack Nogwanya, made an appeal to the community to help the police trace suspects in a murder case.
His appeal is informed by an incident that took place yesterday, 13 January 2015 at about 23:30 at Bundu Estate near White River, where a 60-year-old man, Mr Clive Anthony Bowers, was shot and killed by unknown assailants in his house.
According to information on hand, the elderly man was asleep with his companion when they heard noises in the house and they saw a male suspect inside the house.
The victim was sprayed with pepper spray and thereafter shot dead.
An unknown number of suspects then fled the scene with a television set and cellphones belonging to the couple.
The police and private security guards are working together in searching for the criminals. They have already managed to discover a television set together with a firearm which we believe was used in the murder.
“We urge the community to assist with credible information that may assist the police to arrest and dismantle this gang before they kill another person. Such people do not deserve any freedom within society as it is evident that they are determined to kill hence they murdered Mr Bowers,” said Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Nogwanya.
