The Daily Maverick in South Africa has published an article on Lubya, a village in Palestine, following faithfully in the anti-Israel tradition with inaccuracies, distortions, absence of context and ignoring of cause and effect.
On 29 November 1947, UN Resolution 181 called for two states, a Jewish state and an Arab state in Palestine. The Jews accepted the Resolution, the Arabs rejected it. Please note that the resolution did not call for a state for Palestinians since at the time it was mainly the Jews who were called Palestinians (only after 15 May 1948 were the Jews called Israelis and the Arabs in Palestine only became Palestinians in about 1965, with the publication of the PLO Charter). Thus the Palestinian forces fighting with the allied armies against Rommel in North Africa were the Jews the Arab leader, the mufti of Jerusalem, was aligned with Hitler and spent the Second World War…
