NAIROBI: African athletes continue to dominate international long distance running following Kenya’s Magdalene Masai and Uganda’s Timothy Toroitich victories this week.
They dominated both the males and females races with Kenya’s Masai winning the 6,7 km Spanish field in 23min: 36sec.
She beat the Spaniards close rivals of Iris Fuentes-Pila, who came second in 23: 47 while Jacqueline Martin settled on third position in 23: 52.
In the men’s 10.5 km category, Toroitich won the race in 32: 01 while countryman Moses Kipsiro emerged second.
European cross country champion Alemayehu Bezabeh came third while Mohamed Marhoum and Spain’s Jesus Espana emerged fourth and fifth respectively.
