A social crusader in Kogi State, Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, has alleged that the 2015 budget presented by the state governor, Idris Wada, cannot guarantee stability in the state.
Abdul, who is the Executive Director, Centre for Human and Conflict Resolution(CHCR), made the allegation in a press statement he issued yesterday in Lokoja.
He said the proposed N110 billion budget was full of inconsistencies, adding that the 2014 budget which was N128 billion, only achieved 18.12 per cent implementation. Abdul alleged that the budget did not benefit citizens.
He stated that the proposed budget for 2015 which is about N18 billion lesser than the 2014 appropriation showed clearly the decline in revenue accruable to the state.
Comrade Abdul called on the legislature to look at the 2014 budget’s implementation rate and its impact on the citizenry before passing the 2015 budget.
He, however, commended the governor for the purchase of mass transit buses.
Responding, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi, said the activist was only seeking attention, describing the budget as progressive.
According to him, Governor Wada deserved commendation, not condemnation.
