NAIROBI: KENYA Airways has become the first African carrier to link Vietnam with the East African country. Kenya’s latest 787 Dreamliner will ply the Nairobi (Kenya)- Hanoi (Vietnam) route three times a week with more prospects to increase daily operations between the two countries.
Apart from the newly found Vietnam route, Kenya Airways also aims to connect directly with the Asian economic giants comprising China, Japan, Korea and Malaysia. Kenya Airways Chief Executive Officer, Mbuvi Ngunze, said the direct flights to Vietnam would boost trade between the two countries.
“Vietnam has shown a considerable and stable economic growth over the recent years, including an increase in trade with Africa. As the first airline to directly connect Vietnam to Africa, we are sure to leverage on this growth,” Ngunze said.
Kenya Airways has withstood fierce competition from South African Airways as well as the continent’s fastest growing air carrier, Ethiopia Airways, in local and international routes.
