NAIROBI: KENYA is confident the country’s judo team will bring home medals from the upcoming Africa Youth Games and Commonwealth Games scheduled for Botswana and Scotland respectively.
A total of 15 judoka players are currently under intense training with the view to conquer at the Africa Youth Games in two weeks’ time.
The Africa Youth Games will be used as Kenya’s yardstick for their forthcoming Commonwealth Games scheduled for Glasgow in July.
Judoka secretary general, Shadrack Maluki, revealed that the participants, who contested at the just ended East African competition, displayed capabilities hence retaining them for the Botswana assignment.
“We expect a good performance in the two upcoming championships starting with the Africa Youth Games in Botswana,” Maluki said.
Apart from the judoka participants, Kenya is also sending a powerful diving team, athletics among others.
