JENIN, WEST BANK: The UAE’s Human Appeal International (HAI) has donated US$200,000 for1200 families supporting Palestinian orphans in the City of Jenin, West Bank.
Ibrahim Rashid, Director of HAI’s office in West Bank, said this assistance, which comes as part of the UAE’s Show Compassion (Tarahamu) campaign, launched last week by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, represents material, social as well as moral support to the orphan-sponsoring families.
The HAI official handed over the financial aid to eligible families in the presence of Governor of Jenin, Ibrahim Ramadan, and the head of the Zakat Committee, Nihad al-Raheb.
For his part, Ramadan, hailed the UAE’s leaders for their constant support for the Palestinian people. He noted that the UAE founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, ordered the funding of the Jenin Refugee Camp Reconstruction Project, which was completed in 2007.
Al Ragheb said that the UAE charities’ aid benefit the poor and the underprivileged through supporting the healthcare, educational and social sectors.
The UAE-based charity sponsors 20,000 orphans in West Bank. The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and other UAE agencies also sponsor thousands of Palestinian orphans.
