ABUJA: THE Federal Government looks likely to reduce the number of delegates attending the United Nations 69th General Assembly (UNGA) billed to commence this week in New York.
This follows concern over the size of the delegation that attended the last event.
Nigeria had 506 delegates at the 68th UNGA, the largest at the meeting. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, said government on its part was ready to keep Nigeria’s official delegation to this year’s session very lean based on functional relevance and value addition.
Wali said the delegation would include a number of officials representing non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and the private sector. These usually attend the various side events of the UNGA.
