Free State and North West booked their places in the Finals of the SAB League Championship Finals on Friday, 18 July at the Montshiwa Stadium.
Free State comfortably cruised to the finals with a 5 – 1 victory over KwaZulu-Natal with Dylan O’Brien and Tshepo Mokhabi both scoring twice for their team while Mbuyiselo Thethani sealed the victory for his team.
The second semi-finals saw North West having to work hard for their victory after being held to a 1 – 1 draw by Western Cape. In form midfielder, Berenito Lewis got the opener in the 37th minute until North West grabbed the equaliser in the dying minutes of stoppage time through a goal from Ramokgadi George.
The team to face Free State had to be decided on penalties and it was North West who came out on top with a 4 – 3 victory.
The SAB League Championships finals will now head back to the North West University, Mafikeng Campus on Sunday, 20 July at 15h00.
