Polokwane – Four suspected rhino poachers were stopped in their tracks when a team on their trail for more than two days arrested them on a game farm in the Lephalale area.
Police on Monday received a report about a suspicious looking vehicle moving around in the area and mobilised all the necessary roleplayers to track down the vehicle. Tracks were followed and with the assistance of the rangers on the farm the suspects were spotted, but they fled when they spotted the rangers.
Trackers followed the tracks for several hours until they arrested the four suspects still on the farm. During the arrests members of the Police confiscated an axe, hunting knives, a silencer, pliars and screw drivers. The hunt for more suspects is still continuing.
The four suspects are due to appear in the Lephalale Magistrates’ court on Thursday on the charges of trespassing as well as the conspiracy to commit rhino poaching.
