Buzani Gumede (54), Badumile Ncwane (69), Khombisile Ncwane (45) and Sengishilo Ngcobo (44) were arrested on Thursday, 16 April in Vishavisha Ward, Dududu for being found in possession of dagga. They were released on payment of admission of guilt fines of two hundred rands each.
Members of the Port Shepstone Tactical Response Team were performing detached duties in the Dududu area when they received information of people who were busy processing harvested dagga plants at two separate homesteads. The members pounced on the unsuspecting suspects, arresting Gumede at one homestead and recovering 400 dagga plants and arresting the other three suspects at another homestead and recovering more of the harvested plants.
The drugs were seized by police for destruction.
