ABUJA: THE Federal government has donated four trailers of relief items to victims of the recent attack in the Baga town of Borno State.
The items which were sent through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) include 600 bags of rice, 300 bags of maize, 500 pieces of wrappers, 1 000 blankets among others.
North-East Coordinator of the agency, Mohammed Kanar, presented the material on behalf of the Director General, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Sidi, at the Teacher’s Village camp for displaced people in Maiduguri.
According to the coordinator, the items are for the 3 200 displaced people from the terror-prone town. Caretaker chairman of Kukawa Local Government Area, Musa Alhaji Bukar Kukawa, thanked the government for the assistance.
He called on the federal government to intensify military operations so that the victims could return to their homes. Borno State has borne the biggest brunt of the Boko Haram terror, which has killed more than 13 000 people and displaced about 1 million others.
