Gauteng Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit may be knocking at the doors of the offenders who download pornography from the internet and expose it to children.
This follows and incident in which a 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of child pornography in Sandton and he is out on R10 000 bail after he had appeared in Alexandra Magistrate Court on the 5 May 2015. His case has been remanded to 24 June 2015 for further investigation.
A case involving child pornography was opened by a 9-year-old boy’s mother after the victim came across the naked photos of an adult person. As the investigation progressed, a warrant of search and seizure was obtained. Police proceeded to an identified premise where pornographic items were seized. It was established that they were downloaded from the internet. A suspect was then arrested. He was charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, exposing a child to adult pornography and grooming of a minor.
Exposing children to pornography is a serious offence and offenders may face the full might of the law.
