ACCRA: TWO Ghanaian national soccer team players plying their trade in South Africa, ironically in the same group at the Africa Cup of Nations, are set to make their mark in the tournament that kicks off in Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.
Tough tackling Maritzburg United defender, Mohammed Awal, and Mpumalanga Black Aces rock solid midfielder, Edwin Gyimah, are earmarked to make an impression.
The spotlight will be on the duo when Ghana and South Africa clash on Monday in a crucial match to be played at 2000hrs at the Estadio de Mongomo Stadium.
Both nations alongside favourites Algeria, are tipped to clinch the tournament. After the clash with Ghana, Bafana will return in action on Thursday against another West African nation – Senegal in a do-or-die encounter which promises fireworks.
On the other hand, Ghana will battle out with Algeria. Meanwhile, host nation Equatorial Guinea will set the AFCON in motion against Congo at the Bata Stadium in Malabo.
