The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has called on the federal government to establish a special grazing area for herdsmen in the country to stop clashes between them and farmers.
Emir Sanusi spoke yesterday when the National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Muhammad Kiruwa Ardon Zuru, led his executives on a visit to the palace.
He said there was need for peace to reign between herdsmen and farmers, adding that reserving a grazing area specifically for the herdsmen will help in checking unnecessary clashes.
“Establishment of grazing area with modern facilities as obtained in developed countries will ease the suffering of Fulani herdsmen in transporting their animals to the southern part of the country. I will also emphasis my call on people to be proactive at all times and to defend themselves against the insurgents who have declared war on Muslims. This is because confronting and fighting them to the ground is the only solution to the incessant attacks.”
Earlier, MACBAN president said they were at the palace to seek help on the challenges faced by Fulanis in the country, especially the rustling of their animals.
