The Economic Freedom Fighters is saddened by the violent passing of Senzo Meyiwa, the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain and goalkeeper. The news of his brutal killing has not only robbed the country of an asset, but also reflects the deep crisis of violent crime that the country is facing.
Meyiwa’s passing has robbed the country of a captain of a team that is beginning to show strength and composure. As captain of Bafana Bafana, he led the team to victories over Sudan and Congo Brazzaville and draws with Congo and Nigeria, a country that South Africa traditionally struggles against.
He did not concede a goal in the four matches and died only days before South Africa was to play against Sudan in Nelspruit on 15 November 2014n where they are set to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Meyiwa as captain of Orlando Pirates flawless in his performance. He was a great goalkeeper, a great captain and many say a kind human being.
The EFF sends condolences to the family, friends and all South Africans with the hope that those who have cut his life shot will be brought to the book. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
