The Economic Freedom Fighters demands the immediate release of Gauteng Results. Throughout the counting of votes in Gauteng, the ANC was reducing towards below 50% of the votes in Gauteng. At exactly 17H59, the ANC was at 50.21% of the Gauteng vote and immediately after that, the Gauteng results started to slow down and almost came to an absolute halt because the ANC was heading towards below 50% of the Gauteng vote.
The EFF Provincial leadership in Gauteng approached the Provincial Elections Officer to demand an immediate explanation on why Gauteng results are not streaming in because all Voting Districts have been counted and captured. The Provincial Elections Officer could not give an adequate response and chose to lie that capturing was continuing while such was not the case.
The National leadership of the EFF contacted the Chief Electoral Officer to demand an immediate meeting to explain on why the Gauteng results are not captured and the CEO refused the meeting. The EFF suspects that there is foul play because the ANC is heading towards less than 50% of the votes in Gauteng.
The EFF demands an immediate release of Gauteng results and calls for an immediate audit of the elections and votes in Gauteng because what is happening now is not satisfactory. There are many incidents of lost ballots and ballots found in bins across Gauteng, and it appears that the IEC is colluding with the ANC to prevent the reality that the ANC might go below 50% in Gauteng.
The EFF still demands that the Gauteng Provincial Elections Officer and the Chief Electoral Officer should explain to the EFF what is causing the delay of the Gauteng results. The rest of the other issues we have identified about Elections irregularities will be raised once the final results have been counted in. The IEC should at least have the decency of explain to the EFF why results are being delayed and stop conniving with the ruling party.
The EFF will be awake and vigilant until dawn, waiting for a proper and adequate explanation on Gauteng results. The IEC came to the 2014 General elections with a damaged reputation and should not worsen such by refusing to promptly release the Gauteng results.
