ABUJA: EDO State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has come under fire after allegations he spent N223 million to celebrate 2014 Christmas.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, at a rally in Okada, Ovia North East Local Government area, lamented it was difficult to justify a government immersed in debt and unpaid salaries spending the said amount for Christmas.
He gave details of the voucher numbers used for the expenditure as EXT/GOV/GHSP/2586/14, EXT/GOV/GHSP/2580/14, EXT/GOV/GHSP/2563/14, EXT/GOV/GHSP/2578/14, EXT/GOV/GHSP/2522/14 and EXT/GOV/GHSP/2521/14 “This expenditure will certainly take a deserved place of SHAME in the Guinness book of records. We are informed that even the Vatican City did not spend 20% of the amount spent by Adams to celebrate Christmas.
The people of Bethlehem will be shocked to know Adams spent this sum to celebrate Christmas,” said Orbih. He asked the people of Ovia North-East to vote PDP in the house of Assembly Election to put a stop to this “corrupt, financially reckless and wasteful” Adams Oshiomhole-led APC government.
He said Edo People were grateful for what the President Jonathan led PDP federal government has done so far with the transformation agenda and pointed out that there has been transformation in the power sector, transportation, establishment of 12 new universities and several government colleges. Oshiomhole’s administration had not commented on the allegations.
