Detective Warrant Officer Vis Moodley of the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service would like to contact the family or relatives of a man who allegedly drowned at the Scottburgh beach on New Year’s Day.
Members of the Scottburgh SAPS responded to a report of a death at the GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh on 1 January at approximately 19:30. It is alleged that the unknown man who is in his early twenties, was brought to the hospital by his friends, from the beach. It is believed that he had drowned.
The body was removed to the Park Rynie State Mortuary for a post mortem. The Scottburgh SAPS has registered an inquest docket to investigate the circumstances leading to the death. The hospital records indicate that the victim’s name was “Mafika” of Umlazi. He was dressed in a pair of black shorts.
