Hartswater police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an accident occurred on Saturday, 25 April 2015 at approximately 21:00.
The alleged head on collision, involving a Polo Vivo and a Toyota Avanza, took place approximately 10km outside Hartswater. The Polo Vivo was travelling with four male occupants between the ages of 25 and 33 years old respectively. The vehicle caught fire after the collision and three of the occupants died, while one male is still in a critical condition in Kimberley Hospital. The driver of the Toyota Avanza was travelling alone and he only sustained minor injuries. The occupants of the Polo Vivo are all from the North West province therefore their names cannot be released as their next of kin still has to conduct a formal identification process.
