NEDBANK Cup defending champions Kaizer Chiefs will come guns blazing when they meet stubborn Biest Wits in the Nedbank semi-final encounter at Biest Stadium on Saturday.
Kaizer Chiefs, who appear to have surrendered the league championship race to Mamelodi Sundowns will hope to capitalise on the Nedbank Cup to win the trophy this season.
Only two weeks ago, Biest Wits complicated matters for Kaizer Chiefs’ hopes of retaining the premiership title when the Clever Boys held them 0-0 before a capacity crowd at the same stadium, but Amakhosi, this time around hopes to leave no stone unturned in their quest to defend their Nedbank Cup title.
Wits, who appear certain to end the premiership season on third position will also want to win the Nedbank Cup title, so they Clever Boys will not just let Chiefs run over them since they have one of the most formidable premiership sides this season.
Second placed Kaizer Chiefs trail premiership log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who boast 61 points from 28 outings while the latter have 57 points from the same number of games.
After the Nedbank Cup, Kaizer Chiefs shall battle out with unpredictable University of Pretoria in the Absa premiership to be contested at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
On the other hand, log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns will battle out with city rivals SuperSport United at Loftus Stadium, in a match that promises a thriller.
The midweek derby match for Sundowns and SuperSport will also decide the future of who, between Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs would walk away with the league title for 20132014 season.
Other league matches for midweek next comprise Free State Stars hosting Orlando Pirates at Charles Mopeli Stadium, AmaZulu entertaining Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium while Bloem Celtic host Ajax Cape Town at Free State Stadium.
Elsewhere, Biest Wits will battle out Maritzburg Utd at Biest Stadium while relegation bound Polokwane City will host Moroka Swallows at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
