MONGOMO (Equatorial Guinea)- The coach of the Algerian football team Christian Gourcuff ensured Sunday that the players are “ready” to play Monday against South Africa at the Mongomo stadium (8:00 p.m.), for the game counting for Group C’s first day of the African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea (17 January- 8 February).
“The players are ready for this game, I am very happy with the preparation. As I said, it was in several steps. We are more and more focused. The answer, we will have it tomorrow on the field,” said the Desert Foxes’ coach in a press briefing held at the Mongomo stadium, 24 hours before Algeria’s game against the “Bafana Bafana.”
In Group C’s other match, Senegal will play against Ghana, also on Monday, at the Mongomo stadium (5 p.m.).
“The focus in this first game is important, especially that we will be facing South Africa,” he added.
In a reply to a question about the next opponent, Gourcuff expresses the need to be cautious about the South Africans, considering that this teams is a danger for the Desert Warriors.
Considered as favorite for the final of this tournament, Algeria, said Gourcuff is ready to assume this status.
