Borno refugee centre receives funds to access clean water

ABUJA: SENATOR Muhammad Ndume, representing Southern Borno in the National Assembly, has donated N700 000 for the construction of boreholes at a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The initiative will culminate in the provision of clean water in the camp at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Centre, Maiduguri.

Ndume who was in the camp to assess the problems IDPs faced, urged them to pray for divine intervention to end the Boko Haram insurgency.

He said prayers were very significant in ending the sect members’ activities ravaging the North-East.

Church leader, Bishop Williams Naga, commended Ndume for the gesture, saying that it would go a long way in cushioning the hardships at the centre.

He said the camp also lacked toilet facilities and appealed to the state government to relocate them to Wulari Primary School.
