ABUJA: THE Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has called for collaborative efforts in the fight against terror. He described the security situation in some parts of the country as “unacceptable.”
He also appealed to Muslims nationwide on the successful completion of the 30 days Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid-el- Fitri and called on them to use the occasion to pray for the unity of the country, especially as the nation prepares for the conduct of the 2015 general election. The governor described Islam as a religion of peace and called on the practitioners to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, which he said centred on tolerance, peace and brotherliness.
“Irrespective of our religions and tribes, what should be uppermost in our minds is the unity of Nigeria since we don’t have any other country to call our own. The recent killings in some parts of the country should be jointly condemned,” Dickson said. He added, “The security of the Country should not be left in the hands of security operatives alone. We all have roles to play.”
He commended Muslims in the state for their peaceful disposition, called for religious tolerance among the various practitioners and wished Muslims all over the country a happy Sallah celebration.
