On Tuesday, 26 May 2015 at about 07:05 members responded to a complaint of a body lying in the bushes on Rivergate road, Southgate.
Upon their arrival at the scene, they interviewed a construction worker who informed the members that whilst he was walking in the bushes, he came across a body in the bushes. The construction worker then accompanied the members into the bushes and pointed out the body to the members. The members then noticed a badly decomposed body. At the time of the discovery, the race and gender of the deceased was unknown. Next to the skeleton remains was a brown purse and cosmetics, a pink face towel, black leggings and a SASSA card. It was later established by the doctor in the mortuary that the skeleton remains found, are that of an African female of about 30-years-old with her hair thinly braided. The deceased is an unknown African female.
In another incident, on Tuesday at about 15:20 members responded to a complaint of a dead body in the bushes behind the mosque on Longbury opposite Uppercroft. Upon their arrival at the scene a body of an African male was found lying face down on the ground. This body was also badly decomposed. The deceased was about 40-years of age. The cause of death in both cases are unknown and the post mortem will be conducted.
