ABUJA: THE Nigerian Army has again appealed to the public to support and cooperate with the military in the fight against terrorists. The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Yusha’u Abubakar, has made the appeal in Maiduguri, Borno State. He said the Nigerian troops had continually made success in the counter-insurgency operation in the Northeast.
Abubakar thus assured that soon the fight will come to an end. “The fight is not only for the military but for all Nigerians,” he said. Abubakar also revealed that during attack by insurgents in Gulumba Bama local government area in Borno, some arms and ammunition was recovered. Some 278 live ammunitions, machine guns, AK47 rifles, improvised Explosive Devices IEDs, vehicles and foodstuff among other items from the Boko Haram insurgents were recovered, Abubakar said.
He added that hundreds of Boko Haram insurgents were killed in different locations in Borno and Yobe States by the troops with the support of the air force special squad interdiction missions. Abubakar said many civilians were rescued from the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents during the operations. He commended the professionalism of the media practitioners in conflict and war reporting so far in the Northeast.
