Five men are expected to appear before the Mayflower Periodical Court on Monday, 20 April 2015, for an armed robbery charge.
These men are alleged to have robbed a shop belonging to a Somali national yesterday, 16 April 2015, just after midday. The police on patrol were informed of an armed robbery in progress and responded promptly only to find that the suspects involved have left the scene already. They then followed the suspects after having been given the directions by the community members.
The police spotted a white Toyota Tazz with a registration number fitting the description of the suspects’ vehicle and stopped it. There were five occupants in the vehicle. The police searched them and found two unlicensed firearms, 24 live rounds of ammunition and a cellphone believed to have been stolen from the scene.
The police are currently profiling the suspects to determine whether they are not involved in other criminal activities in and around Mayflower.
