Dubai: Juma Al Majid, Chairman of Juma Al Majid Centre for Culture and Heritage, has received Archbishop Petar Rajic, Apostolic Nuncio to the Arabian Gulf, and discussed with him ways of enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation during his visit to the Centre. Juma Al Majid visited the Vatican in 2012 for the same purpose.
The Vatican delegate toured various departments of the Centre including the Preservation, Processing and Restoration Department, which contains the Manuscripts Restoration section, Prints Repairing Section, Modern Binding Section, and Extracting Pure Cellulosed Fibers Section.
He also took a tour of the Persian Library and Manuscripts Department.
The Centre’s main library contains about 350000 titles including half million tangible units, their topics deal with culture, Arab heritage, Islam, Arabic language and Arab Islamic history, most of them are prints in addition to unprinted materials such as multimedia and digital materials. Main part of these materials are in Arabic, English, Persian, French and other languages.
Archbishop Rajic expressed appreciation to the Centre for serving and promoting world human heritage. He also thanked Al Majid for establishing a vital cultural and scientific centre whose mandate is second to none in the world.
