MALABO: AS action shifts back to Group A, the Orange Africa Cup of Nations could this evening have its first casualty as well as the first team to book a berth in the Last Eight.
Burkina Faso, the 2013 finalists, could find themselves booking an early flight back home if they fail to get any points against hosts Equatorial Guinea and if either Gabon or Congo secure maximum points when they clash later.
The matches kick off at the Estadio de Bata at 1800hrs and 2100hrs (local time) respectively. Ahead of the second pool of matches, Gabon are perched at the top of the standings with maximum points following a 2-0 win over Burkina Faso, who now sit bottom.
Congo are placed second ahead of the hosts courtesy of alphabetical order after the rivals played out a one-all draw in the tournament opener on Saturday. A win for the Gabonese would thus see them book a berth in the second round with a match against Equatorial Guinea to spare.
