A joint venture between Crime Intelligence Kroonstad, the Hawks in Welkom and Potchesfstroom Flying Squad followed up information up to Ikageng Potchefstroom where four  suspects were arrested. The following Police equipment were also seized three  Police blue lights, three  Police reflector jackets, two  Lap tops, three  Wi-Fi, bull cutter and three  Router. Three suspects aged 30 to 40 years old will appear tomorrow on the 16 April 2015 in Kroonstad Magistrate Court to face attempted robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Members applauded for a job well done.
On the 9 April 2015 there was an attempted robbery at Cosmetics shop in Kroonstad, whereby four suspects entered the business premises and robbed cash from the employees. A quick response by Kroonstad Police members led to the arrest of one of the four suspects, the others managed to escape. The suspect arrested was found in possession of a Police firearm belonging to his wife who is a Police Officer in Potchefstroom.
During the interrogation conducted by members of Kroonstad Crime Intelligence, it was discovered that these suspects are residing in Ikageng Potchefstroom and that it is an organised group that is heavily armed with firearms. An address was identified and a joint venture was formed between the above mentioned units. On the 14 April 2015 an operation launched yields positive results because four  suspects were arrested and seven firearms like three revolvers, one Norinco Pistol, two shotguns and one handgun together with a lot of live ammunition. In addition the following were also seized one bull cutter, three Police Blue Lights, three Police Reflector Jackets, two Laptops, three Wi-Fi and three Router.
The two suspects were detained in Kroonstad while another two were detained in Potchefstroom. The three suspects will appear tomorrow in Kroonstad Magistrate Court to face attempted robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms as well as ammunition.
“We regard these arrests and seizure as a great breakthrough because more serious crimes would be used with these firearms. I am very proud to have the calibre of these Police members who did a wonderful job in ensuring that perpetrators were brought to book to face the might of the law” says the Cluster Commander of Kroonstad, Brigadier Apaphia Modise.
