SOUTH AFRICA’S ESKOM WELCOMES COURT DECISION DISMISSING WESTINGHOUSE PETITION
South Africa’s State-owned power utility, Eskom, has welcomed the Constitutional Court’s decision this week to dismiss an application by American power generation equipment Westinghouse to review the awarding of a tender for the replacement of six steam generators at Eskom’s Koeberg nuclear power station.
Eskom welcomes the decision by the Constitutional Court to dismiss the application by Westinghouse, Eskom said in a statement Wednesday.
In September 2014, Eskom signed a contract with Areva NP of France for the replacement of steam generators at the plant which is located in Western Cape Province.
Westinghouse had contested the decision, saying it was flawed.
Eskom said the judgment confirmed that Eskom follows a robust governance process in the awarding of contracts.
