South Africa: Unlicensed Pistol and Ammunition Recovered By Ladysmith K9
In the early hours of the morning on 3 November 2016 officers from the Ladysmith K9 unit worked on information that they had received earlier in the night. They swooped on a house in the Hobsland area and arrested a 36-year-old man. The man was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition. Officers also recovered ammunition belonging to another calibre of firearm. The suspect is due in the Ladysmith Magistrates' Court today. He faces charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as ammunition.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa, praised the Ladysmith K9 Unit for recovering unlicensed firearm. "The police in the province are on the lookout for any one in possession of unlicensed firearms that are being used to commit crime in our society," he said.
