SOUTH AFRICA OUTPACES OTHER NATIONS IN MOBILE SHOPPING
The results of the 2016 Nielsen Mobile Shopping, Banking and Payment Survey show that South Africans are outpacing other nations in online mobile adoption.
This means that most South Africans are using their mobile connected device to either pay or shop online.
The recent Black Friday online shopping promotion was just another example of how South African consumers go online to do their shopping.
Major retailers used social media and other forms of advertising to publicise their bargains.
However, some customer experience managers say cyber activity also increases the chances of scammers to take opportunities.
“One in three customers uses an app to make a purchase (35 per cent) and more than a third of South Africans use their devices to look for deals (39 per cent), make better shopping decisions (44 per cent) or make shopping trips quicker or more efficient (38 per cent),” the survey report says.
Most retailers and major banks have launched mobile apps to help make it easier for consumers to do their online shopping.
