Police find body of man who went missing while swimming at Coolendel
2pm: Police have located the body of a 23-year-old man who disappeared while swimming in the Shoalhaven River.
Multiple agencies searched waters off the Coolendal camping ground, west of Nowra, until darkness fell on Saturday afternoon.
Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command with the assistance of NSW Police Divers, NSW Police Rescue Squad and SES boat crews resumed the search about 7am on Sunday.
Police located the body of the missing man about 9.30am.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Sunday 8.30am: Police officers from the Shoalhaven LAC have resumed a search for a man who disappeared while swimming at Coolendel on Saturday afternoon.
Fairfax understands police divers are expected to arrive at 9am to join the search.
Saturday: The search for a man feared drowned in the Shoalhaven River is set to resume on Sunday morning.
The 23-year-old male was last seen swimming at Coolendel, a campground 40 minutes west of Nowra, on Saturday afternoon.
The South Coast Register understands a large number of people helped look for the man before emergency services arrived about 3pm.
Police joined other emergency services to conduct an extensive search of the area.
“A 23-year-old male was last seen swimming in the waterhole at Coolendel,” the spokesperson said.
“Police have activated a search and at this time we haven’t located him,” the spokesperson said.
“If the body is not recovered the search will continue tomorrow at daylight.”
The search was suspended about 8pm and will resume early Sunday morning.
It is the second time in less than two years emergency services have been called to recover a body from the water at Coolendel.
In January 2015, Corrimal father Svaanik Kumar, 38, died after he was swept into the river at the camping ground while trying to rescue one of his children.
