The Daily Echo could not contact the pub but a message posted on social media said it will be closed “until further notice”.
Jo Sage, 81, who lives on South Front road near the pub, said: “I’m shocked to hear something like this has happened in the community.
“I live very close by and I don’t walk through the park anyway and I certainly won’t do now.
“I’ve lived in the city for over 20 years but I’ve never seen or heard anything like this.”
A 26-year-old man was arrested and remains in police custody and police now say a 34-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Rebecca Leach, 22, who lives in Cossack Green, behind the pub, said:
“I was up until around 3am and I didn’t hear anything.
“Usually they all leave at about 2 in the morning and they can be quite loud, especially on a Saturday night.
“Last night though there was nothing out of the ordinary – I have my windows open but still didn’t see or hear anything”
