Brand SA hands out school shoes to Western Cape children
Brand South Africa and its partners this weekend handed out school shoes and learning materials to children in the Western Cape.
Together with Rally to Read and Barefoot no More, Brand South Africa visited schools in the province as part of efforts to positively contribute to national efforts to improve literacy and education in the Western Cape.
"This weekend Brand South Africa and its partners travelled across Cape Town to distribute resources and engage with parents and children of the various schools," said Brand South Africa in a statement on Sunday.
Teachers were applauded for their hard work and contribution towards education.
Rally to Read, which is an initiative launched by the McCarthy Motor Group, helps to improve education in rural South Africa.
Annually, Rally to Read travels across ten school districts in nine provinces with the aid of McCarthy Motor Group to distribute reading and educational resources to disadvantaged schools.
The handover in the different schools ended with the children reciting their favourite stories and poems for the rally team. Community members were further encouraged to contribute actively and positively to the development of their children's education.
Brand South Africa's nationwide programme Play your Part will return to the Western Cape in November 2016.
