Botha a star as Illawarra crushed
South African international Johan Botha showed his class on debut as Mosman thrashed Illawarra in the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup at Allan Border Oval.
Botha had an amazing day for Mosman which began with a century (102no), plus a hat-trick and taking 5/12 in a one wicket win over Sydney in the first of the double-header.
Botha backed it up an unbeaten 87 (four sixes) off just 45 balls and with Scott Rodgie (112 off 69) led Mosman to make a massive 2/219 against Illawarra.
Joe McDevitt (1/26) and Jason Ralton (1/28) were spared the punishment, but Illawarra, in reply were bowled out for 100. Skipper Tim Laws (42) top-scored.
With five Test matches, 78 one-dayers and 40 T20 Internationals, Botha was a class above his Sydney and Illawarra opponents.
Illawarra have won just one of 14 games in the Kingsgrove Cup T20 in four seasons and host North Sydney and Manly at North Dalton Park next Sunday.
