ANC NATIONAL COMMITTEE TO MEET AGAIN WITH PARTY VETERANS FRIDAY
South Africa's ruling African National Congress (ANC) party has announced that a meeting here Monday between its National Working Committee and a group of 101 unhappy veterans will continue on Friday.
The national working committee met with the 101 veterans in Pretoria to discuss concerns around the state of the ANC with the aim of restoring unity and discipline in the party and the meeting will continue on Friday, the part said.
The meeting comes amid growing calls that President Jacob Zuma step down.
Reverend Frank Chikane, Mavuso Msimang, Ahmed Kathrada and Dennis Goldberg were some of the veterans who attended the meeting Monday.
They raised concerns about the moral compass of the party's current leadership following the loss of major metropolitan municipalities in the August local government elections.
A report by former Public Protector (Ombudsman) Thuli Madonsela State of Capture Report regarding the exercise of undue influence over Zuma by the Gupta family was also high on the meeting's agenda.
